Teen Ministries

We exist to point to Jesus Christ, help students become devoted followers of Him, and give youth strength so that even when they stumble and fall they have hope in the LORD who renews their strength.

Junior High Youth Group

See Current Junior High Youth Group Newsletter

The Junior High Youth Group, (7th-8th graders), meets every other Sunday during the school year. Each year we choose a theme that helps us to carry out our mission statement. At Sunday evening meetings we play games, have a Bible study and refreshments. Through out the year the teens also participate in service projects, outreach opportunities, fundraisers and fellowship activities. The leaders of the Junior High Youth Group are Tracey Schafer, Leigh Elliott, Charley & Tina Rebottaro and Renee Geekie.  Our goal as leaders is to share our spiritual journey and help teenagers begin theirs.  For more information about the Junior High Youth Group, contact the church office.

Senior High Youth Group

See Current Senior High Youth Group Newsletter

The Senior High Youth Group (9th through 12th grade students), meets most Sunday evenings during the school year and schedules a variety of activities.  Meetings are a time for Bible study, fun and games, and sharing our spiritual journeys together.  Through out the year the group also participates in service projects, outreach opportunities, fundraisers and fellowship activities. The leaders of the Senior High Youth Group are Michelle Brady,  Sarah Thomas and Al Schafer.

Possum Trip-

For many years the Senior High Youth Group has been boarding a bus and traveling to exotic locations like Florida, California, New York City, and Nova Scotia.  On the bus we sleep, sing, play cards, and try to amuse the drivers, who drive all night to bring us to exciting destinations in the morning. When we wake we are off to Disneyworld, the beach, national monuments, and whitewater rafting…you name it! The trip allows us some great time to not only bond as a group but also to spend a concentrated amount of time delving into God’s Word together and being thankful for the beauty of the world around us. Trips last 1-2 weeks and we always have great stories to tell when we return.

Work Trip-

Each summer the combined Junior and Senior High Youth Groups participate in a Group Workcamp.  The teens and adult leaders spend the week immersed in missions as we repair houses for people who need a little help.  Last July we traveled to Tennessee where we painted, hammered, cleaned, and shared God’s love in the town of Brownsville. Each night we returned to a local school for a hot shower, a great meal, and time for music, worship, and devotions with our small groups. This June we look forward to hosting Group Workcamp in our community

Fall Retreat: Michindoh/Judson Collins Center-

The fall retreat kicks off the school year for both our youth groups.  We spend time in small group devotions, large group games, eating, singing, and enjoying nature. It is a great weekend of getting to know one another and sharing time together in the scriptures and away from the daily routine.  Watch for dates to be scheduled

Fundraisers-

The trips and events in which we participate are all great experiences, but first we must raise the money! It is during these fundraisers that we learn how truly blessed we are to have a congregation and a community that supports the youth ministry at First Presbyterian Church.
